Nothing blocks out water like sand. But why in the world would you need to block out water when camping? That's exactly the point. You never know when you might need to block it out. Perhaps the river is coming up faster than what you expected or it's raining and water is coming downhill towards your camp and you want to do whatever you can to divert water away from your camp and gear. Well, then you need to take advantage of sand bags. These bags are easy to carry and fit just about anywhere, but can be the difference between your camp staying dry or being soaked.
There isn't much of a difference regarding the sand bags outside of size. Larger sand bags are easy to fill up although a bit heavier to carry around. Smaller sand bags are a great way to add extra stability to tents, shelters, and canopies by placing the bag filled with sand on the tent stakes. Either way, once you find what you're looking for you shouldn't have a problem with carrying as many sand bags as you might need on your next camping trip.
