Camping in Indiana

Turkey Run State Park

Located in Marshall, Indiana, this is considered one of the most beautiful parks in Indiana. The landscape is simply stunning whether you're crossing the footbridge over Sugar Creek or exploring the sandstone ravines. There's a restaurant, cabins to rent, and lots of hiking available at Turkey Run.

McCormick's Creek State Park

McCormick's offers a variety of activities including waterfalls, a cave, and horseback and pony rides. After roughing it in camping tents, visitors can come inside to the recreation center or swim in the Olympic size pool.

Pokagen

In the northern part of the state near Angola, Indiana, Pokagen offers a lot of fun activities for families. Pokagen is known as Indiana's "winter" park as well as offering plenty of summer activities. The Toboggan Run is open Thanksgiving through February with this snow sled ride reaching speeds of 40 mph. There's also cross country skiing, sledding, and ice fishing opportunities.

Whitewater Campground

Whitewater campground in Liberty, Indiana features the 200 acre Whitewater Lake. Boating, fishing, and swimming are some of the prime activities to partake in. There's also horseback riding and lots of places for camping. Strap on your backpacking tents and find a spot near the Whitewater River, Indiana's fastest flowing river.

Mounds State Park

For those interested in exploring history as well as the great outdoors, nature enthusiasts should visit Mounds State Park in Anderson, Indiana. The park features 10 earthworks built by the Adena-Hopewell Indians. These prehistoric people were believed to have lived around 160 B.C. There's also fishing, hiking, and a swimming pool in the park.

There are plenty of outdoor activities associated with camping in Indiana. Whether it's a humid day in August or the middle of January, there's plenty of fun for the whole family at one of Indiana's parks.
